Day One of a Summer Adventure

On the road again……..

Anyone who has been on a family holiday will know this can also be a difficult bridge to cross, as trying to meet everyone's needs whilst being super close together 24 seven is a challenge in itself. This is a picture of the famous railway bridge over the Kwai river in Kanchanaburi, Thailand.

We survived the night train from Chiang Mai to Bangkok, arriving at 530am.

The train is pretty cozy and less than half the price of the plane, with freshly made bunk beds with air con and it’s purple– much to the delight of our four year old daughter!

There is a restaurant carriage that turns into a discotheque/karaoke bar at night, that during the day offers quite decent food.

Finding Paleo on the menu was pretty difficult so we settled for the glass noodles with pork, veggies and egg. The carriage windows were open as we dined, winding through the mountain range of the Khun Tan national Park.

Noah waiting for his food in the restaurant carriage. He wants to grow his hair until his nineteen to see how long it will get...?! I think it will look great in his surfing pics in Indo. :)

Now in the Amari hotel, conveniently located across from the Don Muang Bangkok Airport, we are struggling to entertain our tired kids. We are meeting friends tonight for dinner and neither one of us can find the energy to do anything more than take them to the hotel swimming pool for the day.

We have done most of the attractions here in Bangkok, on previous visits and shopping with two kids under ten is not for anyone who who wants to stay sane…so hotel pool it is!

Our plane leaves for Indonesia at 605am tomorrow, which means a 4am wake up for us tomorrow morning. We are all in need of some quality family time, decent surf and relaxation. Can’t wait to finally get there.
