I am pretending that peanuts are Paleo for the month of April.
I am in Indonesia and satay sticks with peanut sauce are too delicious to ignore, I am on holiday and making loads of exceptions…we only live once!
Something I love even more than tasty Balinese food, is their eating culture.
All of the food is prepared in the morning – rice, noodles, vegetables, meat etc. Then everyone can just help themselves and eat when they are hungry. They don’t have to sit and eat together. The women here are obviously clever, I really like this relaxed attitude to eating.
Traveling with the kids the last few weeks, I have to say that most of our conflicts revolve around food. When to eat, what to eat and where to eat it. I find myself straying off the Paleo track and often eating when I am not hungry – I really miss my kitchen.
Thankfully, after two weeks on the road driving around and exploring volcanic beaches, lakes, temples and mountainous regions, I am happy to be in a rental house with my very own kitchen, basic as it is. No Thermomix here!
